How to make Soft Chapati / Roti :

Chapati is Indian flat bread made of wheat flour. It can also be made of various other flour like jowar, bajra, soya , etc.
As rice is the staple food for the southern India, Chapatis are the stable of the norther Indians. But nowadays chapatis have been become a part of south Indian Kitchen.
Chapatis are made oh whole wheat flour and cooked on a tava.
Wheat flour is more nutritious , rich in calcium, iron , fiber and other minerals.
Preparing chapatis are quite simple and easy.. lets see step by step Pictures.....

Soft chapathi

Ingredients :


  1. Wheat flour - 2 cup
  2. Water - 2/3 cup
  3. Oil - 2tsp
  4. Milk - 2tsp ( Optional) / Adding milk the chapati make more softer
  5. Salt to taste





Method :

Combine the flour and salt in large mixing bowl

Then add 2 tsp oil, slowly add the water, then gradually increase the water. and gather the flour together to make a moist dough 

Knead well , folding and pushing until the dough is pliable 

Keep closed aside 15 - 20 min

And divide the dough in small size ball

Apply the flour in both sides of the dough 

Roll out the ball of the dough evenly to a thin texture into a circular shape


Heat a tawa, put the chapati pour 1 tsp of oil 

Chapati cook about 30 sec or 1 min on the second side

while turning the second side of the chapati ,slowly it will puff


Remove from the heat 

Ready to serve
