Kerala Kodam pulli fish kuzhambu recipe :

Simple and easy kodam pulli fish kuzhambu in Kerala style.....Let's see step by step pictures...


Ingredients :

  1. Fish - 1/2 kg (Use any kind of fish )
  2. Onion - 1
  3. Tomato - 1
  4. Green chilly - 5 
  5. Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  6. Red chilly powder - 3 tsp
  7. Coriander powder - 5 tsp
  8. Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  10. Kodam pulli - 3 pcs
  11. Coconut milk - 1 cup 
  12. Salt to taste

For temper :

  1. Oil - 4 to 5 tsp
  2. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  3. Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  4. Fenugreek seeds - 1/ 4 tsp
  5. Few curry leaves
Total time for cooking : 20 - 30 mins

Method :

  1. Clean and cut the fish 
  2. Marinate the fish with some turmeric powder and salt and keep it aside
  3. Chop the onions and tomatoes
  4. Sliced the green chilies
  5. Blended the grated coconut with 1 1/2 cups water till finely blended.
  6. Extract the milk and keep aside
  7. Heat the kadai, with 5 to 6 tsp oil. Then add the mustard seeds once its splutter add the urad dal, Fenugreek seeds and some curry leaves 
  8. Then add the onions, saute it well for 2 to 3 mins
  9. Add the green chilies and ginger garlic paste. fry till raw smell goes 
  10. Add the spice powders and stir well on low flame till aromatic, adding a little water an d salt as necessary
  11. Then add the tomatoes, cook till it turn mushy
  12. Add 1 cup of water and kodam pulli ,allow it boil for 5 to 10 mins
  13. Then add the fish simmer on low flame for 5 to 7 mins
  14. Add the coconut milk and sinner again another 5 mins till nicely thickened 
  15. Turn off the flame
  16. Serve hot with steamed rice.
